The L293D Motor Driver Module is a compact H-Bridge circuit that allows you to control the direction and speed of two DC motors or one stepper motor. The integrated 7805 voltage regulator provides a stable 5V output for logic-level components like microcontrollers.
Components:
L293D IC: Dual H-Bridge motor driver capable of driving up to 600mA per channel (1.2A peak).
7805 Regulator: Converts input voltage (typically 7–12V) to a regulated 5V output.
Capacitors: Used for voltage smoothing and noise reduction.
Screw Terminals / Headers: For motor and power connections.
Circuit Basics:
M1 (Motor Power): Connects to your motor.
- M2 (Motor Power): Connects to your motor.
VIN (Power): 7V - 12V to 7805 regulated 5V for IC operations .
Enable Pins: Must be HIGH to activate motor channels.
IN1–IN4: Control motor direction via logic signals.
A typical setup routes the 7805 output to Vcc1, while Vcc2 powers the motors directly. This ensures the microcontroller receives clean 5V logic while motors get higher voltage.
