7-segment display is a type of electronic display that consists of seven individual segments arranged in the shape of a figure-eight. Each segment can be independently controlled to display numerical digits and some basic alphanumeric characters. It is commonly used for displaying numbers in various applications such as digital clocks, calculators, digital meters, and electronic signage.

The segments in a 7-segment display are labeled with letters from 'a' to 'g' and an optional decimal point ('dp'). By selectively illuminating the appropriate segments, different numbers and characters can be displayed.
